Need to know what you recommend for stop motion mold

I am doing a mold of a 8'' tall character. Im doing a stop motion film, so I want the arms and legs to be bendable. What kind of material would be good to fill the mold with. I am very new to all this, but would like some suggestions or tips if you have any. thanks

Hey Scott welcome to the forums
You are asking a very broad question here so lets narrow it down a bit.
Will your cast character have an internal armature?
How much movement are you looking for?
also It might help if you posted a pic of your character.
stop motion animation takes a lot of work and there are many ways to go about it.
have you ever thought about claymation using Plasticine IE. the Wallace & Grommit films, or were you looking more at something like the Nightmare Before Christmas film?
Keep us posted

Hey Nicemoooves
You may want to start out by getting yourself a really good armature (see pic)
you can make your own, but that can be very tricky if you don't have the tools to do so.
Good armatures for stop motion are quite expensive but you can use them over and over again, and they can be taken apart and reconfigured to any shape or size.

Hi Scott,
To second Hal and Jack, I would ask as well what material do you want it to be made of ? Plastilene, foam latex, latex and PU foam, etc? Depending on what material you want your character in, the mold material is different, possibly the way you make the mold... It could be silicone, PU resin, polyester or epoxy resin, plaster.. Here are a couple of links on books you might find interesting : http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw...Go.x=15&Go.y=8

Hope it helps

From what I've read of Ray Harryhausen, et al, they usually fill the negative mold with foam latex.
